On Monday, the Jewish High Holidays season began.
We use a lunar calendar which means that the actual day of the week when we celebrate a holiday changes every year.
Therefore, some years we barely have time off during the High Holidays (because they fall over the weekend). In others, like this year, we have eight days off (two per week).
During the first holiday, we hiked twice.
Two days before that hike, we'd celebrated the Rosh Hashanah, with my parents and sister's family.
The tradition during the first part of the meal is to eat certain small dishes. You recite a blessing or a prayer before each.

Before dressing up and going to my parents, I looked at my beautiful apartment.
I enjoyed how tidy and clean it looked, and most importantly, I was happy a male prostitute hadn't cleaned my apartment.
Instead, Felix helped me do it.
That must have sounded odd! Should a male hustler have come over to help me clean?!
It all started last Tuesday when Felix came over for breakfast.
